"Our family hosted two students from GATP two years ago.  My children were not keen on the idea but I prevailed and it was a great experience all around (if I do say so myself)!  Our GATP students couldn't believe we buy dog food and "dog treats" (eye-opening for my children) and shared many insights into life as a Chinese adolescent.  They loved playing mini golf and swimming in the lake and were eager to try anything.  Several evenings they were content to spend time on the internet as their access is so limited back home.  The fact that they were at UVM all day made this a manageable commitment for a working parent.  We still keep in touch via Facebook."
